Threshing Day Game:
Brave the valley.
Choose your path.

The Threshing Day game turns a dragon-rider’s trial into a choice-driven adventure: enter the valley, read the signs, face uncertain encounters, and discover what kind of dragon answers your approach. It draws readers into the world of Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean series and the official Dragonkind experience.

Play the trial below without an email, account, or cooldown. Your choices shape a route, reveal clues, influence danger, and lead to a colour, tail type, and rarity encounter. Then explore how Threshing works, what the books tell us about dragons, and what has been observed in Dragonkind.

01 THE GAME & ITS WORLD

What Is the Threshing Day Game?

The Threshing Day game commonly refers to Dragonkind’s browser-based, choose-your-own-adventure experience. Rather than controlling a character in a flying simulator, you read scenes, decide how to respond, and discover the consequences. Rebecca Yarros’s launch announcement describes the interactive Threshing adventure she developed with Infantree.

The name also overlaps with Threshing Day, the Empyrean story collection. The connection is the dragon-rider bond and the day that changes a candidate’s future. The book and the Dragonkind game explore that setting through different formats: one through written stories, the other by asking the visitor to make choices.

This page brings a playable trial and a reading guide together. The game above runs here, while the sections below explain Dragonkind and its book connections. You can play the Threshing Day game immediately, or read on for context before making your first choice.

02 CHOICES & CONSEQUENCES

How to Play the Threshing Day Game

The essential loop is simple: read an encounter, choose an action, and continue if you survive. The seven-choice trial tracks observation, loyalty, resolve, and defiance through the story rather than a visible score screen. Investigation can reveal clues, helping another candidate can build trust, safe progress creates momentum, and reckless decisions raise danger. These signals shape the final meeting and make a second attempt meaningfully different from the first.

At the final encounter, colour and tail type are selected from the route’s available dragon candidates. Rarity is a separate encounter roll: Common results are frequent, while Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary results are progressively harder to meet. Clues, momentum, and a successful high-stakes choice can improve discovery odds without fixing a guaranteed result.

For the trial on this page, select Begin the trial and follow the on-screen choices. A finished attempt can be saved or shared; a failed attempt can be restarted immediately. There is no need to learn a scoring system before playing. In the official Dragonkind game, encountering a dragon does not guarantee a bond. A candidate can survive one meeting and still face danger later. That makes the Threshing Day game more than a single “which dragon are you?” question: the journey matters as much as the result.

03 UNDERSTANDING THE BOND

Threshing Day Game Dragons: Colours, Tails, and Bonds

A dragon’s colour, tail type, identity, and bond describe different things. A colour identifies an appearance or classification; a tail describes a physical feature. Neither field alone supplies a dragon’s name, a rider relationship, or a numerical power ranking.

Two concrete examples show why the distinction matters:

Reference What it establishes
Brown dragon encountered during the recorded Dragonkind run A brown dragon appears in that encounter. Its name and tail were not recorded.
Brown Clubtail in Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing bonus chapter 27 That colour-and-tail combination exists in the book. It does not establish the official game’s result pool.

For readers comparing a Threshing Day game result with a book passage, check exactly what the description says. An encounter is not a bond, and a book reference is not automatically a list of obtainable game outcomes.

The central idea is the dragon’s choice. Surviving a meeting leaves room for the story to continue; it does not mean the candidate has earned a guaranteed companion. That uncertainty is part of what makes Dragonkind Threshing compelling.

04 FROM A RECORDED ATTEMPT

Dragonkind Threshing: Decisions, Danger, and Survival

The Dragonkind Threshing experience draws danger from more than dragons. A recorded official attempt passed through a dragon encounter before ending in a confrontation between cadets. Helping someone and surviving the intervention turned out to be separate challenges.

That is a useful way to approach the Threshing Day game: consider what a character can actually see, what they may have missed, and how quickly they are acting. Courage and loyalty can shape a decision without removing its risks. This is an interpretation of the encounter, not a guaranteed winning strategy.

The optional notes below summarize one authenticated attempt from October 4, 2026. They contain route spoilers; skip them if you would rather discover the official adventure yourself.

Dragonkind Threshing route notes — spoilers

The candidate entered alone, followed a scent west, and encountered a brown dragon. Lowering their head and turning toward it led to survival, but no bond. The path continued into the forest.

Investigating a scream revealed a squadmate threatened by two cadets. A rushed intervention ended the attempt when the smaller attacker used a dagger. The recorded lesson was to assess the whole situation before engaging.

This route demonstrates both a non-bonding dragon encounter and a fatal human encounter. It does not establish what every alternative choice would have produced.

05 THE AUTHOR & THE BOOKS

Dragonkind, Rebecca Yarros, and the Threshing Day Book

Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing synopsis establishes the stakes behind the Threshing Day game. Violet Sorrengail had expected a life among books, but is directed toward the dragon riders at Basgiath War College. There are fewer willing dragons than candidates, so survival and becoming a rider are not the same achievement.

Basgiath, the Riders Quadrant, and Threshing

Basgiath is the college; the Riders Quadrant is the dragon-rider setting within it. Dragonkind’s entrance uses “Conscription Day” to welcome candidates, while Threshing is the trial at the heart of the adventure. These terms relate to the same world but should not be treated as interchangeable names for one event.

The Dragonkind game also contains a Public Notices library. Seventeen notices were visible in the archived session, touching on Navarre, borders, Aretia, and administrative history. They add texture to the setting; they are not a verified checklist for unlocking a particular dragon.

Thirteen stories, one shared day

Threshing Day is a collection of thirteen stories, not the fourth main-series novel. Its shared-day structure invites readers to consider more than one perspective on the stakes surrounding the bond.

Reading it alongside a Threshing Day game can sharpen an interesting question: what did a character know when they acted, and what does the reader understand afterward? That gap between intention, knowledge, and consequence connects the appeal of the stories with the appeal of interactive choices.

06 ACCESS & REPLAYS

Dragonkind Website: Accounts, Access, and Replays

The Dragonkind website has email-based account entry. This Threshing Day website lets you play the trial above without registering, and you can restart immediately. The experiences use separate progress and results.

One recorded failure on the official Dragonkind website was followed by approximately four hours of waiting. Its display read 3:56 in hours and minutes, not three minutes and fifty-six seconds. That observation applies to the recorded attempt; it does not establish a permanent cooldown for every player.

If your aim is to keep exploring choices now, play the Threshing Day game here. If you are comparing official accounts or results, use the conditions of that experience rather than assuming every similarly named game has the same rules.

No download is needed for the trial on this page. Saved trials stay in the current browser, so clearing its storage can remove them.
